BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae men's soccer played South Atlantic Conference member Mars Hill to a 1-1 draw under the lights on Tate Field.
Fletcher Dyson scored the first goal of the season for the Bobcats in the 47th minute of tonight's contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Mars Hill's Peter Plougmand delivered the first shot on target for either in the fourth minute, but Bobcat Jonathan Kienle collected his first save. Nils Schulze had a quality shot five minutes later, but James Price made the stop.
- The two sides traded one more shot on goal in the first half as Lees-McRae and Mars Hill entered halftime deadlocked at 0-0.
- Lees-McRae gained the one-goal advantage out of the locker room after Harrison Watts found Dyson in the middle of the box in the 47th minute of tonight's match.
- The Lions continued to pressure the Bobcats in the final stages of the match with Sam Bayly scoring the game-tying goal in the 87th minute off an assist from Nolan McMillen. Lees-McRae had one final opportunity with a corner kick in the 89th minute, but the fixture ended in a 1-1 draw.
- Lees-McRae and Mars Hill were even on shots, 10-10, and the Lions had a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal. The two sides also had five corner kicks apiece.
- Owen Smith led the Bobcats with two shots on goal and Nils Schulze and Noah Daragmeh each collected one shot on target.
- Kienle made four saves in goal for Lees-McRae with the one goal allowed.
FOR THE LIONS:
- Bayly led the way for Mars Hill with three shots on target and Plougmand had the final two for the Lions.

Lees-McRae travels to Conference Carolinas newcomer Shorter University on Saturday, Sept. 14 for a 1:30 p.m. matchup with the Hawks in Rome, Georgia.
