Women's Volleyball Goes 1-1 at Milligan on Saturday

MILLIGAN, TENN. – Lees-McRae women's volleyball went 1-1 with a sweep of St. Andrews before falling to Milligan in three sets on Saturday. Sydney Stigler had 17 kills over the two matches.

GAME 1 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Lees-McRae def. St. Andrews, 3-0 (25-18, 25-14, 25-8)
LOCATION: Steve Lacy Fieldhouse – Milligan, Tennessee
RECORDS: Lees-McRae (8-1/0-0), St. Andrews (0-12/0-5)
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Bobcats started the day with a three-set sweep over St. Andrews.  Lees-McRae collected a hitting percentage of .778 in the third set and a season-high .462 hitting percentage for the match. 
  • Stigler paced the Bobcats with eight kills on a .615 hitting percentage and added three service aces and two digs in the contest. Nina Vallesi had six kills, five aces, and five digs in three sets.
  • Addyson Morgan and Ella Young contributed 13 assists each in the match. 
FOR THE KNIGHTS:
  • Davanee McKinney had a team-high four kills for St. Andrews in today's fixture.
 
GAME 2 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Milligan def. Lees-McRae, 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-21)
LOCATION: Steve Lacy Fieldhouse - Milligan, Tennessee
RECORDS: Milligan (8-5/3-1), Lees-McRae (8-2/0-0)
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Milligan earned the three-set sweep of the Bobcats in the second match of the day for both teams.
  • Stigler missed double-digit kills with nine and added 11 digs in the contest. Vallesi had a match-high 16 digs in the match.
  • Vallesi followed Stigler in kills with six and Destiny Holley collected four on a .286 percentage.
  • Emma Summerfield chipped in 10 digs and Morgan led the Bobcats with 16 assists in the three sets.

FOR THE BUFFS:
  • Avery Maiden recorded a game-high 13 kills on the match and Ella Maiden followed with 10 kills on an impressive .533 hitting percentage.

UP NEXT:
Lees-McRae starts Conference Carolinas play on Wednesday, September 25 against Belmont Abbey on the McNair & Debi Tornow Court.
