MURFREESBORO N.C. – Chowan opened on a 9-0 scoring run and held the Bobcats to 56 points as Lees-McRae women's basketball fell to the Hawks, 80-56, on Tuesday evening in Murfreesboro, North Carolina.
Sydney Hayes led the Bobcat with 11 points in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Chowan opened the contest with the first nine points. Leah Barringer scored the first point for Lees-McRae and the Bobcats trailed by 16 after the first quarter.
- The Hawks added to their lead in the second quarter and held the 19-point advantage at the halftime break. Chowan earned its seventh victory of league play with the 80-56 win over Lees-McRae.
- Hayes had 11 points on 4-8 shooting and 3-6 from three-point range. Shayne Burton, Layla Tillery, and Kirsten Watt followed with nine points in the game.
FOR THE HAWKS:
- Meara Carter paced Chowan on Tuesday with a double-double, 19 points and 14 rebounds. Yasmine Brown tallied 13 points and three Hawks recorded 12 points apiece in the win.
