BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae women's basketball battled in the fourth quarter, but fell short to Converse, 62-48, in Conference Carolinas play on Tuesday evening.
Nadiya Hairston had a game-high 19 points for the Bobcats.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Sandra Mason started the scoring for the Bobcats with a jumper at the 7:20 mark of the first quarter. Lees-McRae held the 8-4 advantage with five minutes left in the first quarter.
- Converse ended the opening period on a 11-2 run for the 15-10 advantage. The Valkyries added to their lead in the second quarter and led by 19 at the end of the first half.
- Lees-McRae cut the deficit to 17 points at the end of the third quarter and trailed by nine with 1:59 remaining in the game. The Valkyries took the victory by a final of 62-48 in league play.
- Hairston had 19 points and five rebounds for the Bobcats. Thailand Smith followed with nine points and six rebounds in the game. Mason collected seven points and Layla Tillery contributed six points, seven rebounds, two assists, and three steals in the contest.
FOR THE VALKYRIES:
- Tatiana Brown had a team-high 15 points for Converse. Elisa Solé Sanchez joined Brown in double figures with 14 points, seven boards, four assists, and two steals.
