COLUMBUS, Ga. – Lees-McRae women's basketball rallied after trailing by 19 points, but ultimately fell to Catawba in the season opener, 82-77, on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Kaylee Carson and Layla Tillery knocked down back-to-back threes to give the Bobcats the 6-4 lead with 8:39 left in the first quarter.
- Catawba went on a 10-1 run to end the first quarter for the 26-17 lead. Catawba added to its lead in the second quarter and led by 16 heading into the halftime break.
- The Bobcats chipped away at the lead and cut the deficit to 10 points at the end of the third quarter with free-throw makes from Nadiya Hairston.
- Layla Tillery cut the Catawba lead to two off a jumper at the 5:10 mark of the fourth quarter. Charlotte Torgerson gave the Bobcats the two-point advantage with 2:45 to play off a three-pointer.
- Catawba regained the lead with one minute left after a fastbreak jumper and earned the season opener at 82-77.
- Carson led the Bobcats with 16 points and recorded five rebounds in 31 minutes. Hairston followed with 15 points on 7-8 from the free-throw line. Tillery rounded out the Bobcats in double figures with 11 points.
- Lees-McRae went 24-32 from the charity stripe, but Catawba forced 23 turnovers and converted 18 points off turnovers.
- Mary Spry led the Catawba Indians with 22 points and five rebounds. Brooklin Ingram, Saniya Wilson, and Sheree Gidney joined her with double-digit points in tonight's contest.
