Men's Basketball Moves Win Streak to Three in a Row with 87-75 Win over Barton

BANNER ELK, N.C. – Brandon Brown led the Lees-McRae men's basketball to a 87-75 Conference Carolinas victory over Barton with a career-high 26 points and five made three-pointers.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Barton quickly jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first two minutes of tonight's contest. DJ Kent stopped the run with a tip-in basket at the 17:04 mark of the first half.
  • The Bobcats chipped away at the Bulldog lead and trailed by one after a three-pointer from Brown. Lees-McRae gained its first lead at 28-27 off a fastbreak layup from Nico Ashley.
  • Lees-McRae added to its one-point lead and 43-36 at the halftime break.
  • Oli Smith knocked down a three at the 18:06 mark of the second half and the Bobcats led by 12 off a dunk from Kent.
  • Barton cut the deficit to six points twice in the second half, but Lees-McRae maintained its lead and earned the 87-75 win over Barton on Wednesday evening.
  • Brown led the Bobcats with 26 points off the bench and added four rebounds and two blocks in the contest. Kent recorded his third consecutive with 20 or more points as he added 21 points on 7-15 shooting.
  • Ashley rounded out the Bobcats with double-digit scoring with 14 points and combined for six rebounds, five blocks, and four assists.
  • Trey Crews and Shawn Nelson combined for 24 points on the evening for Barton. Nelson had a team-high 14 points and added four rebounds.
