Lleyton Starke recorded a team-high eight kills and seven digs, but Lees-McRae men's volleyball fell to Catawba, 3-0, in non-conference play on Friday night.

FINAL SCORE: Catawba def. Lees-McRae, 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-21)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lees-McRae battled back to trail by one point at 23-22 in the first set. Catawba used a service error and a triple block for the set win at 25-22.
- The Bobcats raced out to a 6-1 lead in the second set. Catawba gained the lead off a 7-0 scoring run and registered the second set win at 25-22. Catawba earned the sweep with a 25-21 set win in the third set.
- Starke had eight kills on a .313 hitting percentage for Lees-McRae and recorded seven digs, and three blocks. Austin Beaird followed with seven kills and Sebastian Heer had six kills on a .364 hitting percentage.
- Abdirahman Ahmed distributed 24 assists in three sets and added three digs and two kills for the Bobcats.
- Trevor Phillips and Eli Zdonek led Catawba with 14 and 12 kills, respectively. Kristian Smith dished out 25 assists in the three-set win.
