GREENVILLE, S.C. – Lees-McRae men's soccer senior
Jesper Jonsson has been named a 2024-25 finalist for the Murphy Osborne Award as announced by Conference Carolinas this morning. The Murphy Osborne Award is Conference Carolinas' Outstanding Senior Student-Athlete Award.
Jonsson, a native of Huddinge, Sweden, played in 70 matches for the Bobcat soccer program and started in 67 of those contests. Jonsson finished his four-year career with three goals and eight assists. He racked up 5,213 minutes on the pitch and scored the match-winning goal on September 24, 2024 against King on Tate Field.
Jonsson will graduate with a degree in Business Administration and was recently named to the Conference Carolinas Fall 2024 Academic All-Conference Teams presented by Barnes & Noble College. Jonsson and Gray Smith were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Team for the second time in 2023 and earned the recognition in 2022, also.
To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must be a December or May graduating senior or a first-year graduate student completing athletic eligibility at the same institution as undergraduate matriculation. The student-athlete must be a full-time student at the time of nomination, must have been a full-time student at the member school for at least two years and must be a starter or important substitute in a conference sport.
