Men's Tennis Advances to Semifinals of Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Championship

SUMTER, S.C. – Lees-McRae men's tennis knocked off the No. 44 team in the nation in Barton, 4-3, and advanced to the Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Championship semifinals with a 4-2 win over Mount Olive.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Bobcats dropped the doubles point before taking four of the six singles matches for the 4-3 win over the No. 5 seed Barton on Friday morning.
  • Max Borisov continued his undefeated season with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Felipe Mioch.
  • Andy Tallafigo claimed the second point of the morning for Lees-McRae at No. 5 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Barton's Guillem Busquets Brau.
  • Andrew Kunaka used a three-set win at No. 3 singles for the 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 win. Isaac Yang collected the match-winning point at No. 2 singles, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.

  • Lees-McRae continued its momentum in the second match of the day with a 4-2 win over Mount Olive in the quarterfinal round.
  • Borisov tied the match at 1-1 with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Kristoffer Dalbak.
  • The Bobcats used wins on courts No. 4, 5, and 6 to earn the 4-2 win over the fourth seed Mount Olive.
  • Ezequiel Arce completed the straight-set win at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-4.
  • Tallafigo went 2-0 on the day at No. 5 singles at 6-1, 6-2 over UMO's Hampus Hagglund. 
  • Tenzin Dorji won 6-4, 6-3 over Joao Matias Sonaglia.
