BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae women's volleyball student-athlete
Rebecca Ryan has been named to the 2024-25 Conference Carolinas All-Community Service Team, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Ryan, a rising senior from Matthews, North Carolina, and her teammates were relocated to Queens University of Charlotte and assisted on organizing a large shipment of supplies for the hurricane-affected areas during the months following Hurricane Helene.
Ryan and the Lees-McRae women's volleyball received the Team CATSPY for Overall Service. The award recognizes a team on campus that has on-going service in the community.
One of the key strategies for Conference Carolinas is helping to provide its member institutions opportunities for student-athletes to be more involved and engaged with the community. The Community Service Team features student-athletes from six different member institutions who embody all of these qualities.
To be eligible for the award, the student must be a junior or senior in academic status and own a grade-point average of 2.7 or higher. In addition, the student must have completed at least two full-time semesters at the institution.
