Nigel Okwakol collected a career-high 22 points as Lees-McRae men's basketball claimed the 84-81 Conference Carolinas win over Converse this evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Dwight Canady started the night 5-5 from three-point range as Lees-McRae led by 12 with 8:39 left in the first half. The Bobcats held the seven-point advantage at the halftime break.
- Okwakol knocked down a mid-range jump shot with 16:20 to play in the second half as Lees-McRae led by 12.
- Converse cut the deficit to four points after a three-point from Will Fowler. Lees-McRae moved the margin back to eight points with 5:09 left in the second half.
- Converse's Fowler made things interesting down the stretch with a three-pointer with six seconds remaining in the contest. Canady hit the second free throw as Lees-McRae earned the 84-81 win over Converse on Wednesday evening.
- The Bobcats shot a season-high 68.8% (33-48) from the field with eight made three-pointers and scored 44 points inside the paint.
- Canady had a team-high 23 points on 7-10 shooting and 5-6 from three-point range. Okwakol followed with 22 points on 10-14 shooting. Daniel Ague and Yerald Mieses joined Canady and Okwakol in double-digit scoring with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
