Ben Fincham tallied a match-high 19 kills on a .533 hitting percentage as Lees-McRae men's volleyball earned its first win over Tusculum since 2020 this evening on the McNair & Debi Tornow Court.
THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Lees-McRae def. Tusculum, 3-1 (25-15, 20-25, 25-20, 27-25)
LOCATION: McNair & Debi Tornow Court – Banner Elk, North Carolina
RECORDS: Lees-McRae (8-8/3-2); Tusculum (7-6/2-0)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lees-McRae used an 8-0 scoring run in the first set to hold the 10-3 advantage over Tusculum. The Bobcats picked up the first set at 25-15 off a kill from Davide Nicolini.
- Tusculum evened the match at one set apiece with the 25-20 set win in the second set.
- The Bobcats bounced back with a 25-20 win in the third set. Lees-McRae secured the lead with a 4-0 scoring run off three attack errors from the Pioneers. Hayden Conner registered a service ace for the 25-20 win.
- Lees-McRae fought off a set point from Tusculum at 24-24 and used two straight points at 25-25 for the match victory. Jadon Ciriacks recorded the final service ace for tonight's win.
- Fincham led the Bobcats with 19 kills and added five service aces, four blocks, and seven digs. Nicolini followed with nine kills, three assists, and three digs. Ciriacks tallied six kills on 18 swings and Evan Harris had six kills and zero errors.
- Abdirahman Ahmed distributed 40 assists in the contest and Ben Ratliff-Becher collected eight digs in four sets played.
