FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Lees-McRae women's volleyball began its 2026 season at the Fairmont State Volleyball Classic in Fairmont, West Virginia. The Bobcats fell to Anderson in the season opener and dropped a four-set match to East Stroudsburg in the evening session.
GAME 1 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Anderson def. Lees-McRae, 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-17)
LOCATION: Joe Retton Arena – Fairmont, West Virginia
RECORDS: Anderson (1-0), Lees-McRae (0-1)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Bobcats battled Anderson in three sets, but the Trojans earned the match.
- Karoline Springman led the Bobcats with nine kills on a .208 hitting percentage. Peyton Volk-Tuller had seven kills on a .294 hitting percentage and Joy Bateman collected five kills in her Bobcat debut.
- Iza Rosin distributed 17 assists in three sets and Brooke Ashkenase had 11 digs in the contest.
GAME 2 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: East Stroudsburg def. Lees-McRae, 3-1 (27-25, 24-26, 25-20, 25-18)
LOCATION: Joe Retton Arena - Fairmont, West Virginia
RECORDS: East Stroudsburg (1-1), Lees-McRae (0-2)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Bobcats forced the first set against East Stroudsburg into extra points, but the Warriors earned the opening stanza at 27-25.
- Lees-McRae battled back to even the match at one set apiece after collecting 14 kills in the 26-24 set win.
- East Stroudsburg earned the match victory in four sets with set wins at 25-20 and 25-18.
- Lees-McRae had a .210 hitting percentage to East Stroudsburg's .208 in the match.
- Caylee William led the Bobcats with 12 kills on a .500 hitting percentage. Addi Stables joined William in double-digit kills with 10 kills and 14 digs.
- Aadyn Polk and Iza Rosin combined for 49 assists and Ashkenase contributed 23 assists in four sets.
