Head Coach Paul Goode has maintained that the women's tennis
team has continued to work hard and battle each opponent in each
match.
Their scores have not been favorable, but the team has continued
to preserve and Tuesday that hard work and determination paid off
as the Lady Bobcats tennis team beat the Converse All-Stars in one
of two doubles matches and three of four singles matches.
Jenna Simpson and Laura Parker started the day for the Lady
Bobcats but were beaten 8-2 by a strong doubles pair from
Converse. Coach Goode kept the ladies in check and the team
continued to work hard for every point as Kat Smith and Tolken
Baidyldaeva defeated the second Converse doubles pair 8-0 to even
things at one a piece. A third doubles match was scheduled and
credited to the Lady Bobcats after the All-Stars had to
forfeit.
Simpson continued her tough day facing off against Converse's
top player and fall in straight sets. Parker got one back for the
Lady Bobcats handling the All-Stars number two player 6-2, 6-4.
Doubles partner Smith and Baidyldaeva continued their strong play
in singles action winning 7-5, 6-1 and 6-4, 6-0 respectively.
"I couldn't be prouder of the team," commented Coach Goode.
"The girls continue to work as hard as they can day in and day out
in practice. It's great for them to be rewarded for that with a
strong showing today."
The Lady Bobcats will host the Pfeiffer University Falcons on
Thursday April 13 here on the campus of Lees-McRae College. Games
will begin at 1:00pm.
