The Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats tennis team swept the Converse
College All Stars 3-0 in doubles play, only to fall 5-4 in a
Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference match up Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Bobcats fall to 6-14, (2-7 CVAC).
Katherine Smith and Jenna Simpson squeezed out a 9-8(6) win over
Tina Rohner and Rhett Smodic in the #2 doubles match while the
pairings of Cameron Joyce/Kasey Mabe and Ashley Mayers/Renee
Roberson handled their matches easily with 8-2 and 8-1 wins
respectively. Unfortunately, the Lady Bobcats were unable to
maintain the momentum as the All Stars took five of a possible six
points in singles play. Simpson, (pictured top left), scored the
lone Lees-McRae point during singles play.
The Lady Bobcats will conclude their regular season schedule
this Saturday as they visit Division I Elon University. Matches
are set to begin at 11:00am.
