Sumter, S.C.--In the second round of the Conference Carolinas
Women's Tennis Championship Tournament the Lady Bobcats fell 5-0 to
the Limestone Saints in Sumter, S.C. Saturday morning. With the
loss Lees-McRae played Saturday afternoon against Pfeiffer
University to decide third and fourth place. The Lady Bobcats were
defeated 5-3 by the Lady Falcons in the contest, taking home a
fourth place finish for the tournament.

In the first match of the day Limestone charged ahead, sweeping
Lees-McRae in doubles action, although both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles
teams did not go down without a fight. Ashley Mayers (Miami, Fla.)
and Christine Vanard (Winston-Salem, N.C.) fell 8-6 at the two,
while Andrea Balaszova (Prague, Czech Republic) and Renee Roberson
(Salisbury, N.C.) also lost 8-6 at the three.
With the Saints only needing two wins in singles action to
clinch the victory, the match was ended once Eve Aubry defeated
Balaszova at the second flight 6-2, 6-1, and Josephine Gade beat
Amanda Nascimento (Vitoria, Brazil) 6-2, 6-3 at the four.

In a match to decide third and fourth place for the Conference
Carolinas tournament, the Lady Bobcats fell 5-3, despite taking two
points in doubles action. With the loss Lees-McRae finished fourth
for the tournament.
In doubles Mayers and Vanard teamed up to defeat Domiques and
Reyes 8-1 at No. 2 and Roberson and Balaszova beat Billeter and
Thomas 8-3 at the third flight.
In singles only Mayers, playing No. 3, was able to take a win
for the Lady Bobcats when she won 6-2, 6-2 over Billeter.
Balaszova (No. 2) and Cameron Joyce (Lenoir, N.C.) at the five both
lost in three sets to Pfeiffer. Vanard's No. 1 match remained
unfinished with Vanard behind 6-3, 5-5 when the match was
determined.
