SUMTER, S.C. - The No. 2 seed Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats
women's tennis team defeated the No. 7 seed Pfeiffer University
Falcons, 5-2, in the first round of the Conference Carolinas
Tournament.
The Lady Bobcats fell behind early losing two of the first three
doubles matches. Christine Vanard and Gabriela Celi won their
singles match at number one 8-1.
The Lady Bobcats won the first four singles matches to clinch the
win. Celi won at one, 6-3, 6-4, and Vanard handled her opponent at
two, 6-1, 6-2, to give the Bobcats a 3-2 lead.
At three, Ashley Mayers won 6-0, 6-1, and Lyndsay Pegram clinched
the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win at four to advance the Lady
Bobcats.
Lees-McRae will advances to play Erskine Saturday morning.
