BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College women's tennis team
knocked off their second straight ranked opponent with a 5-4 win
over the No. 27 Tusculum College Lady Pioneers Sunday afternoon at
the Baker Tennis Courts in nonconference action.
The Lady Bobcats earned doubles points from Christine Vanard and
Gabriela Celi at the number one position and from Ashley Mayers and
Lyndsay Pegram at the two position to take a 2-1 lead into the
singles matches.
Lees-McRae earned wins from Celi and Vanard at their one and two
singles positions respectively and received the match clincher from
Mayers at her three position.
With the win, Lees-McRae improves to 11-4 overall, while Tusculum
falls to 13-3 overall.
Lees-McRae will travel to Pfeiffer April 8th for their next
match.
