BANNER ELK, N.C. --- The Erskine College
women's tennis team swept doubles play, and won each singles match
en route to a 9-0 Conference Carolinas victory over Lees-McRae
College on Saturday morning.
Erskine's (15-4, 9-0 CC) Tessa Rheault and Britton Bignon opened
the day with an 8-2 win over Christine Vanard (Winston-Salem, N.C.)
and Lyndsay Peagram (Greensboro, N.C.) before Corin Hallman and
Victoria Stevens knocked off Maria Andrade (Middle Village, N.Y.)
and Kelsey Hiatt (Mount Airy, N.C.) by a score of 8-1. Abby
O'Reilly and Nikki Miller then defeated Renee Roberson (Salisbury,
N.C.) and Raven Harris (St. Pauls, N.C.) by a tally of 8-1.
Rheault opened singles play with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Vanard,
before Hallman defeated Peagram, 6-3, 6-1 to register the clinching
point. Bignon then defeated Andrade, 6-4, 6-0, as O'Reilly won her
fourth flight match against Hiatt by a tally of 6-1, 6-2. Stephens
posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over Roberson at No. 5 singles, before Miller
closed out the day with a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Harris.
Lees-McRae returns to the courts on Sunday when the Bobcats
travel to Misenheimer, N.C. to resume their conference slate
against Pfeiffer University. Play is scheduled to begin at 1
p.m.
