Fleet sweeps Bobcats, 9-0

DUE WEST, S.C. --- The Erskine College women's tennis team swept both singles and doubles play en route to a 9-0 victory over visiting Lees-McRae College in Conference Carolinas play on Saturday afternoon.

Erskine's (7-2, 5-0 CC) duo of Tessa Rheault and Mike Goyette opened doubles play with a hard-fought 9-8 (13-11) victory over Lees-McRae's (0-3, 0-1 CC) pairing of Lyndsay Peagram (Greensboro, N.C.) and Samantha Wohlers (Windsor, Ontario, Canada), while Corin Hallman and Victoria Stephens defeated Kelsey Hiatt (Mt. Airy, N.C.) and Raven Harris (St. Pauls, N.C.) by a tally of 8-0. Erskine was awarded the third doubles flight by default.

Hallman gave the Flying Fleet a 4-0 advantage with a 6-2, 6-0 victory against Peagram, as Abby O'Reilly defeated Wohlers, 6-2, 6-2 to clinch the overall win for Erskine. Goyette registered a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Hiatt, while Stephens defeated Harris, 6-1, 6-0 in the fourth singles flight. Erskine was awarded the final two singles matches by default.

Lees-McRae returns to the courts on Saturday, March 3 when the Bobcats host Lincoln Memorial University at noon.
