BANNER ELK, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae women's tennis fell 9-0 to Tusculum in its season opener at LMC Tennis Courts in Banner Elk, N.C. Wednesday afternoon.
The Pioneers (1-0) didn't drop a game in three of the six singles matches while the Bobcats (0-1) were unable to get on track in the early season loss.
Junior Hillary Lutz (Shelby, N.C.) claimed a game in the second set against Erin Mills in No. 2 singles, but fell 6-0, 6-1.
Junior Taylor Bost (Jefferson, Ga.) suffered the same fate at No. 4 single while falling to Sarah Baker.
LMC will spend the weekend in Sumter, S.C. to participate in the Palmetto Tennis Center Invitational starting Sept. 12.
