FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. --- A quartet of Lees-McRae women's tennis players earned a pair of wins each while the team blanked Emmanuel (Ga.), 9-0, in Conference Carolinas play Sunday at the Emmanuel Tennis Courts in Franklin Springs, Ga.
The Bobcats (3-10, 1-4 CC) picked up their first conference win while not dropping a set the whole contest. The Lions remain winless and fell to 0-12, 0-7.
Senior Samantha Wohlers (Windsor, Ontario, Canada) battered Madalena Frausto, 6-1, 6-1, before teaming up with Hillary Lutz (Shelby, N.C.) to gain an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles.
Lutz defeated Abby Bradford, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
Rachel Grether (Claremont, Fla.) earned her first singles win of the year when she thwarted Sarah Wisneski 6-1, 6-0 in No. 4 singles action.
Taylor Bost (Jefferson, Ga.) cruised past Alyssa Austin, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
LMC kicks off a five-match homestand when it welcomes Pfeiffer Friday, April 3 at 1 p.m. in Banner Elk, N.C.
