BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Caroline Green and Taylor Bost picked up a pair of wins each while the Lees-McRae women's tennis team defeated Barton, 6-3, in Conference Carolinas play Friday afternoon at the LMC Tennis Courts in Banner Elk, N.C.
The Bobcats improve their record to 3-9, 2-5 CC while the Bulldogs fall to 2-15, 0-7.
Green (Columbia, Tenn.) and Hillary Lutz (Shelby, N.C.) outlasted Smiljana Kljajic and Vanessa Sanoja, 8-6, in No. 1 doubles action.
Green swiped her second win of the day after rallying back at No. 1 singles. After falling in the first set, 6-3, Green claimed the final two by identical 6-3 scores against Kljajic.
Freshman Mackenzie Langmade (Kailu Kona, Hawaii) joined Bost (Jefferson, Ga.) to upend Casey Utley and Whitney Hamilton, 8-7, in No. 2 doubles play.
Bost cruised past Hamilton in No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
Freshman Rebecca Pierce (Fernandina, Fla.) grabbed a win at No. 5 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
Junior Amanda Chapman (Sunderland, Md.) won at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-3.
LMC welcomes Mount Olive Saturday, April 2 for a CC tilt at 11 a.m. in Banner Elk, N.C.
