BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon to King (TN) University. The Bobcats fell in game one by a score of 6-1 and dropped game two in five innings by an 8-0 final score. LMC is now 14-30 overall and 6-14 in conference play with the results Tuesday.

Game 1 Recap: The Tornado scored a pair of runs in the top half of the first inning, which proved to be all the offense that King's starting pitcher Emma Hughes needed as she held LMC to one run in seven innings of work on her way to a 6-1 victory.

Offensively the Bobcats totaled four hits off of Hughes. Noel Cassidy had two of those hits, while Kara Cunningham and Karly McRary accounted for the other two hits in the contest.

Cunningham took the loss in the circle for LMC after allowing six runs on seven hits and four walks. Cunningham did strike out eight hitters in her outing.

Game 2 Recap: Although the starting pitcher was the different for King in game two, the result was very similar as Raven Allender kept LMC's offense to only one hit to help the Tornado to an 8-0 win in five innings.

Chelsea Digregorio notched LMC's lone hit in the game, and she also drew a walk in the loss. Gabrielle Moyer took the loss for Lees-McRae after allowing seven runs (five earned) on 10 hits in three innings of work. Moyer's record dipped to 3-4 with the loss.

Next Up: The Bobcats will close out their 2017 regular season on April 22 with a doubleheader against North Greenville in Banner Elk. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
