BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lee-McRae College women's tennis team won its third straight Conference Carolinas match on Wednesday (Apr. 10), blanking visiting King (Tenn.) 7-0.
The Bobcats won two out of three doubles matches to secure the doubles point, before sweeping singles play for the victory.
Sandy Allen and Nursharneem Shamsuddin teamed up for a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles, before Rebecca Pierce and Jaden Acklin earned a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles. Allen began singles play with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1, before Shamsuddin posted a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2. Zeynep Cakirer won at No. 3 by a score of 6-0, 6-2, while Mackenzie Langmade earned a shutout 6-0 6-0 win at No. 4. Pierce picked up a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 5, before Acklin closed things out with an 8-1 win at No. 6.
The Bobcats (12-10, 4-4 Conference Carolinas) are back in action on Saturday (Apr. 13) at Barton for a 2 p.m. first serve.
