BOONE, N.C. – The Lees-McRae women's swimming team won 13 of the 17 total events, with
Fanny Courbot breaking the 400 IM, 100 breast, and 200 breast school records and
Tate Abbott clinching three individual victories, to clinch a pair of tri-meet victories over Catawba and Emory & Henry over the weekend.
THE BASICS
WOMEN'S RESULTS:
- Lees-McRae def. Catawba – 96-52 (Friday) / 111-52 (Saturday)
- Lees-McRae def. Emory & Henry – 117-29 (Friday) / 130-34 (Saturday)
LOCATION: Salisbury, North Carolina (Friday) / Watauga County Parks and Recreation – Boone, North Carolina (Saturday)
FRIDAY'S NOTABLES:
- Courbot opened the weekend by breaking the Lees-McRae record in the 100 breast with a time of 1:06.80.
- Abbott won the 100 free (53.38), while Guillermina Rentsch and Anastasia Johnson touched first in the 200 back (2:11.67) and in the 200 fly (2:16.51) respectively.
- Rentsch, Courbot, Johnson, and Abbott teamed up to win the 400-medley relay (4:00.60), while Abbott joined Lucia Ruchti, Taylor Simmons, and Kayla Fleming to post a first-place finish in the 200-free relay (1:40.46).
- Simmons and Ruchti also finished second in the 500 free (5:25.99) and in the 100 free (55.81), while Courbot touched second in the 200 IM (2:15.11).
- Johnson was also third in the 100 breast with a time of 1:12.16.
SATURDAY'S NOTABLES:
- Courbot also broke her own Lees-McRae record by winning the 200 breast (2:28.16) and broke the school record in the 400 IM (4:55.99) with a second-place finish.
- Abbott won both the 50 free (24.20) and the 200 free (1:58.20), while Rentsch and Johnson touched first in both the 100 back (1:01.09) and in the 100 fly (58.91) respectively.
- Rentsch, Johnson, Courbot and Abbott joined up to win the 200-medley relay (1:50.38), while Rentsch joined Simmons, Fleming, and Ruchti to touch first in the 400-free relay (3:45.53).
- Simmons was also second in the 1,000 free (11:22.15), while Fleming was second in the 50 free (25.94).
- Hannah Gunsallus finished third in the 1,000 free (11:34.88), while Kandace Kennedy was third in the 100 back (1:04.53).
- Simmons and Fleming were third in both the 200 free (2:03.29) and in the 400 IM (4:59.06).
FROM THE COACHES:
- "Friday, we had some really good swims. Fanny Courbot broke the school record in the 100 breast and we as a team had multiple personal records. The women's team was dominant. On Saturday, we had great swims after getting back late from the first day of the tri-meet. We have asked our student-athletes to continually progress, and they have responded. Courbot broke her own record again in the 200 breast and broke the school record in the 400 IM after Kayla broke it in the heat prior."

The Bobcats will travel to Bristol, Tennessee on Saturday, Nov. 6 to compete in a dual meet against King at 1 p.m.
