BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Lees-McRae men's and women's swimming headed to Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky for the 2024 TYR Bulldog Invite. The Bobcats collected multiple top-ten finishes and finished sixth as a team in the four-day meet.
THE BASICS
MEET: 2024 TYR Bulldog Invite
LOCATION: Union College Center for Health & Learning -- Barbourville, Kentucky
WOMEN'S NOTABLES:
- Riley Gleason, Ava Kjar, Sarah Munzenmaier, and Taylor Simmons started the meet with a sixth-place finish in the 800 Yard Freestyle with a time of 8:40.84.
- In the 200 Yard Relay, Gleason, Kjar, Munzenmaier, and Simmons collected fifth with a time of 1:47.47.
- Simmons earned fourth in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:17.24 and lowered her prelim time by six seconds. Simmons continued her meet with a third-place finish in the 200 Yard Free in a time of 2:01.62. Simmons wrapped up her individual races with a time of 18:44.23 in the 1,650 Yard Freestyle.
- Gleason tallied sixth in the 50 Yard Free with a time of 25.78.
MEN'S NOTABLES:
- Stephen Bandy, Chase Davis, Nathan Higdon, and Thomas Ware placed third in the 800 Yard Free Relay with a time of 6:59.00.
- Ware earned first place in the 200 Yard Free with a time of 1:42.74. Ware recorded a time of 4:41.83 in the 500 Yard Free for third place and Davis followed in fourth with a time of 4:43.85.
- Davis registered fourth in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 51.53 and Bandy followed in seventh with a time of 54.77.
- Higdon placed second in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a finals time of 56.67. Higdon took fifth in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 1:56.04.
- The men's team tallied third in the 400 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 3:28.11.
