KINGSPORT, TENN. – After moving into the residence hall at Guilford College this week, Lees-McRae men's and women's swimming kicked off their 2024-25 season over the past two days at the King Invitational in Kingsport, Tennessee. The Bobcats posted four top-ten finishes over the two days of swimming.
THE BASICS
MEET: King Invitational
LOCATION: Kingsport Aquatic Center -- Kingsport, Tennessee
WOMEN'S NOTABLES:
- Kate Hannah, Ava Kjar, Sarah Munzenmaier, and Taylor Simmons began the meet with 10th place in the 200 Yard Freestyle. The Bobcats finished the relay with a time of 1:52.21.
- Simmons started her individual races in the 500 Yard Free with a time of 5:37.62.
- Hannah took 15th in the 50 Free with a time of 27.40. Kjar followed with a time of 28.55.
- Kjar finished the 100 Yard Backstroke in a time of 1:08.42 and placed 14th individually.
- Simmons collected 14th in the 100 Free with a time of 58.41 and 16th in the 100 Yard IM with a time of 1:08.11.
MEN'S NOTABLES:
- Stephen Bandy, Chase Davis, Nathan Higdon, and Thomas Ware started the invitational with a sixth-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:29.78.
- Higdon notched a top-ten finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:01.13 and placed seventh. Higdon tallied 13th in the 100 Yard IM after finishing in 57.58.
- Ware took 16th in the 200 Yard Free after touching the wall at 1:51.12. Davis collected 10th in the 100 Back with a time of 54.43. Higdon finished the 100 Back with a time of 57.19.
- Davis recorded a time of 58.49 in the 100 Yard IM and Bandy followed with a time of 59.09.
