BRISTOL, Va. –
Tate Abbott won a pair of individual events and swam a leg of the winning 200-medley relay team to pace the Lees-McRae women's swimming team in a 137-80 dual meet victory over "Battle for the Blue Ridge Cup" rival King this afternoon.
THE BASICS
WOMEN'S RESULTS: Lees-McRae – 137; King – 80
LOCATION: Virginia High School – Bristol, Virginia
NOTABLES:
- Abbott won both the 200 IM (2:15.82) and 200 fly (2:16.16), while also joining Guillermina Rentsch, Fanny Courbot, and Anastasia Johnson to win the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:51.91.
- Rentsch was also an individual winner in the 200 free (2:03.17), with Kayla Fleming winning the 200 breast with a time of 2:37.69.
- Simmons touched first in the 200 back (2:19.07) and teamed up with Fleming, Hannah Gunsallus, and Lucia Ruchti to win the 200-free relay (1:43.73).
- Fanny Courbot also posted a first-place finish in the 500 free with a time of 5:28.11.
FROM THE COACHES:
- "Today was a great meet for us. Our challenge was swimming off events and still competiting. We not only accomplished this, but we also had some great swims and numerous PR's. The team really performed well, and it is especially good leading into our focus meet in a few weeks."
UP NEXT:
The Bobcats will travel to Jefferson City, Tennessee on Saturday, Nov. 13 for a dual meet against Carson-Newman starting at 1 p.m.
