MONTREAT, N.C. – Elias Zajicek crossed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase competition, while
Cooper Abernathy posted a top-10 finish in the hammer throw, to pace the Lees-McRae men's outdoor track & field on the first day of the Montreat Invitational.

NOTABLES:
- Zajicek, who claimed the title in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears Open with the 17th-fastest time in NCAA Division II last Sunday, crossed second at this week's competition with a time of 10:17.14.
- Abernathy posted a mark of 45.87 meters in the javelin throw to earn seventh place overall.
- Silas Arendash and Christian Bargaineer both posted 12th-place finishes in the 1,500-meter run (4:08.08) and in the long jump (6.76 meters) respectively.
