WILSON, N.C. – Four Bobcats finished with multiple hits in game two, led by
Charlsy Traylor, who hit her first home run of the season, and
Addyson Ikard who drove in a combined four runs, and
Sarah Beth Thomas and
Cassidy Coleman who scored four runs, as Lees-McRae softball team earned a split against Barton in the Conference Carolinas twin bill this afternoon.
GAME #1 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Barton – 2; Lees-McRae – 0
LOCATION: Jeffries Field – Wilson, North Carolina
RECORDS: Barton (13-14/6-5), Lees-McRae (6-23/3-10)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Ikard registered the lone Bobcats' hit in game one.
- Barton opened the scoring in the first game by scoring a run on a single to center field with two outs in the bottom of the first.
- After five innings of scoreless action, the Bulldogs added an insurance marker in the bottom of the sixth on an infield double.
- Traylor was credited with the loss in game one, giving up only one earned run on five hits in six innings of work.
FOR THE FOES:
- Sloane Correa went 2 for 2 with an RBI to pace the Bulldogs in game one.
- Rilee Jones gave up only one hit to earn the victory in the circle.
GAME #2 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Lees-McRae – 10; Barton – 5
LOCATION: Jeffries Field – Wilson, North Carolina
RECORDS: Lees-McRae (7-23/4-10), Barton (13-15/6-6)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Ikard and Traylor both went 2 for 4 from the plate with two RBIs each to pace the Bobcats in game two, with Traylor tallying a two-run home run.
- Thomas finished 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Lauren Ritchie went 2 for 4 with an RBI and run scored.
- Coleman added an RBI and two runs scored, while Amber Corvin chipped in a double and a run scored and two walks.
- Abby West and Hannah Foster also drove in a run.
- After Barton opened the scoring with a single to right field in the bottom of the first inning, the Bobcats used six hits to score six runs in the top of the second.
- Ritchie, West, Coleman, Thomas all hit singles in four-consecutive at-bats to give the Bobcats a 4-1 lead before Ikard doubled that scored both Thomas and Coleman to extend the lead to 6-1.
- The Bulldogs cut the deficit to 6-4 with a three-run second inning.
- Lees-McRae tallied a pair of runs in the top of the third inning on a wild pitch and a walk by Foster with bases loaded.
- Barton scored a single run in the bottom of the fifth to trim the lead to 8-5, before Traylor hit a two-run home run to put the game out of reach.
- Raygan Rensing picked up the win for Lees-McRae, giving up four earned runs on eight hits in five innings of work. Traylor gave up only one hit in two innings of relief.
FOR THE FOES:
- Lindsey Massengill went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored in game two for Barton.
- Shelby Talley gave up six runs on six hits in one inning of work to be credited with the loss.

The Bobcats will return home on Thursday as they host Catawba in a non-conference twin bill starting at 1 p.m.
