MARS HILL, N.C. –
Tate Abbott,
Hannah Gunsallus, and
Anastasia Johnson all posted a pair of individual victories, while
Guillermina Rentsch and
Fanny Courbot won their individual events, to lead the Lees-McRae women's swimming team to a pair of dual meet victories over "Battle for the Blue Ridge Cup" rival King and Mars Hill this afternoon.
THE BASICS
WOMEN'S RESULTS: Lees-McRae def. King - 126-57; Lees-McRae def. Mars Hill - 129-67
LOCATION: Mars Hill College – Mars Hill, North Carolina
WOMEN'S NOTABLES:
- Abbott won the 50 free (25.02) and 100 free (54.40), while Gunsallus touched first in both the 1,000 free (11:20.78) and in the 500 free (5:34.77).
- Johnson posted victories in both the 200 IM (2:26.04) and in the 100 fly (1:03.00).
- Rentsch and Courbot won the 100 back (1:03.55) and the 100 breast (1:09.85) respectively.
- Abbott, Johnson, Rentsch, and Courbot also teamed up to win the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:54.40.
- Taylor Simmons posted a pair of second-place finishes in the 1,000 free (11:25.44) and in the 500 free (5:41.27).
- Lucia Ruchti and Rentsch also finished second in the 100 free (56.51) and the 200 free (2:05.65) respectively.
FROM THE COACHES:
- "This was a good meet for us with dominate performance on both sides. Again, the process is to improve each meet this semester. We had some improved swims from our meet yesterday and look for more of the same over the next two weekends.

Lees-McRae will visit Hickory, North Carolina next Saturday, Jan. 22 for a dual meet against Lenoir-Rhyne at 1 p.m.
