BELMONT, N.C. –
Jala Holloman and
MaKayla Smith both scored in double figures, while
Destiny Johnson chipped in eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds, but it was not enough as Belmont Abbey outscored the visiting Bobcats 17-7 run in the second quarter en route to clinching the 62-48 win in the Conference Carolinas action this evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Holloman paced the Bobcats with 14 points on 3 of 7 shooting from distance to go along with two rebounds and a steal.
- Smith chipped in 13 points on 5 of 6 shooting from the charity stripe, while also tallying two rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
- Malikah Meyers also added eight rebounds.
- Lees-McRae stormed out of the gates by scoring 11 of the first 15 points and used a late three-point field goal by Meyers to take an 18-10 lead after 10 minutes of action.
- The Crusaders outscored the Bobcats 17-7 in the second frame to take a 30-25 lead at halftime.
- The Bobcats held the score within five points for the opening minutes of the second half until Belmont Abbey closed the frame on a 14-7 run to extend the lead to 48-36 at the final intermission.
- The Crusaders outscored Lees-McRae 14-12 in the final quarter to clinch the conference win.
- The Bobcats held a slim 8-6 advantage in second-chance points and forced 20 turnovers by Belmont Abbey.
FOR THE FOES:
- Jo Snow and Brittney Autry scored 23 and 19 points respectively to pace the Crusaders, while Autry chipped in a game-high 10 rebounds.
UP NEXT:
The Bobcat will travel to King on Monday, Jan. 24 for a Conference Carolinas and "Battle for the Blue Ridge Cup" contest at 5 p.m.
