CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Lauren Ritchie and
Emma Jackson both collected multiple hits in the second game of the day, including a solo homerun for Ritchie, while
Megan Powell hit a three-run homerun and collected the win in the circle to lead the Lees-McRae softball team to a 7-1 win against the University of Charleston. The Bobcats started the day with a 5-3 loss to host Queens (N.C.) to open the three-team round-robin tournament.
GAME #1 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Queens (N.C.) – 5; Lees-McRae – 3

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Hannah Foster went 2 for 3 from the plate with a double and a walk, while Jannon Glaspie collected her first hit as a Bobcat.
- Jackson and Aliyah Compton both went 1 for 4 from the dish with a combined two runs scored and an RBI for Jackson.
- Lauren Ritchie and Rylie Webster also collected a hit, with both hits coming as doubles.
- Lees-McRae continued its recent trend of scoring first as Compton scored in the top of the first inning off a groundout by Jackson.
- Queens evened the score in the bottom of the third on a groundout that scored the runner from third base.
- The Bobcats reclaimed the lead in the top of the fourth as Glaspie singled up the middle to score Jackson to give Lees-McRae a 2-1 lead.
- The Royals pushed across four runs on three hits in the bottom of the fourth to shift momentum.
- Lees-McRae closed out the game's scoring in the top of the sixth inning as Webster doubled to left center that scored Jasmine Fong from third base.
- Raygan Rensing and Jada Wilson both saw time in the circle for the Bobcats, giving up only one earned run on three hits in six innings of work.
FOR THE FOES:
- Three Royals collected hits in game one, led by Haley Nelson with a solo homerun.
- Khristen McPherson, Kate Hunter, and Jordan Dunn combined to allow only three earned runs on eight hits in seven innings of work.
GAME #2 BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Ritchie went 2 for 4 from the plate with a solo homerun, a double, and two runs scored, while Jackson finished 2 of 3 from the dish with two runs scored.
- Powell went 1 for 3 with a three-run homerun, while Foster also collected a hit and a run scored.
- Lees-McRae opened the scoring again in the first inning as Ritchie homered to left-center field with two outs to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
- After two scoreless innings, Lees-McRae led off with a single by Foster and followed by Jackson who was hit with the pitch, who were both sent home on a three-run homerun by Powell with two outs to extend the lead to 4-0.
- The Bobcats continued to add to their lead in the top of the sixth as Ritchie connected on a leadoff double and later scored on a hit by Kasey Spease.
- Lees-McRae closed out their scoring as Jordyn Scott scored on a wild pitch.
- Charleston finally broke through with a solo homerun in the bottom of the seventh inning.
- Powell struck out 10 batters and only gave up one run on four hits to earn her first victory as a Bobcat.
FOR THE FOES:
- Four Eagles collected hits in the second game, including Allysa Lake who went 2 for 2 with a solo homerun.
- Morgan Hoppe and Mahealani Haegele allowed a combined four earned runs on six hits in seven innings of work.
UP NEXT:
The Bobcats will close out the Queens Round Robin tomorrow as they face the University of Charleston a 10 a.m. and host Queens (N.C.) at 3 p.m.
