GREENSBORO, N.C. –
Zai Fraser and
Deanna Betzer both broke school records in the long jump and 5,000-meter run respectively, with Fraser also winning her event, while both
Max Geckler and
Ian Kelbert posted top-five finishes in the 5,000-meter run, to lead the Lees-McRae men's and women's outdoor track & field teams on the first day of the North Carolina A&T Aggie Classic this afternoon.

DAY 1 NOTABLES:
- Fraser won the long jump competition with a distance of 5.75 meters, which broke the previous school record of 5.61 meters (set back in 2004) by .14 meters and was only .07 meters away from earning an NCAA Division II provisional mark.
- Betzer finished second in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:52.48, which broke the previous school record of 18:57 (set back in 2007) by just under five seconds.
- Geckler crossed fourth in the 5,000-meter run on the men's side with a time of 16:00.26, while Kelbert and Landon Cromer finished fifth (16:04.27) and seventh (16:59.83) respectively.
- Britney Augustin finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.47, which was faster than the NCAA Division II provisional time and .69 seconds slower than her season best of 1:00.78 that she achieved at the VertKlasse Meeting on April 1.
- Brennen Pierce was ninth in the 1,500-meter run (3:58.76), while Spencer Piercy and Jessica Reeves were 10th (39.73 meters) and 12th (23.75 meters) in their respective javelin throws respectively.
