HICKORY, N.C. – Rien Freeman won the 3,000-meter steeplechase, while
Deanna Betzer and
Max Geckler both finishes second in their respective 5,000-meter run races, to lead the Lees-McRae men's and women's outdoor track & field teams on Day 1 of the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears Invitational this afternoon.

NOTABLES:
- Freeman won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:09.45, which ranks third in the Conference Carolinas this season and is 11th in the Southeast Region, while Cameron Adair crossed fourth in the event with a time of 10:21.48, which ranks fifth in the Conference Carolinas this season.
- Betzer crossed second in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:08.02, which ranks eighth in the Conference Carolinas this season, while Geckler finished second in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:38.71.
- Zai Fraser and Christian Bargaineer were both fourth in their respective long jump competitions, with Fraser hitting a mark of 5.10 meters and Bargaineer finishing with a distance of 6.41 meters.
- Jessica Reeves was fifth in the javelin throw (23.76 meters), while Corimonte Eatmon was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:01.20).
- Madi Cantrell and Megan Guess were fifth (2.40 meters) and sixth (2.40 meters) respectively in the pole vault.
