BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae Ski & Snowboard team started off their season with a competition at Sugar Mountain Resort on Jan. 15 and 16. The team competed in snowboard giant slalom on Oma's Meadow.
The national champion men's snowboard team picked up right where they left off last season with a dominant performance in their first alpine event. The team took 1
st place overall led by Freshman
Blake Broussard. Blake had a stellar performance in his first ever collegiate event dominating the field. His teammate, Junior
Kenneth Stanford finished right behind him in 2
nd place. Sophomores
Chance Markland and
Aiden Garner finished in 4
th and 7
th respectively.
The women's snowboard team placed 3
rd overall with two top 10 finishes. Sophomore
Lilly Kamp finished in 6
th place and right on her heels was Senior
Lindsey Fletcher in 7
th. The two were only separated by two hundredths of a second.

Lees-McRae Ski & Snowboard finished their second competition yesterday at Beech Mountain Resort and will now head to Bryce, Virginia for a competition at Bryce Resort this weekend.
