Ski & Snowboard Builds Momentum with Mid-Atlantic Regionals this Weekend

NELLYSFORD, Va. – The Lees-McRae Ski & Snowboard team picked up four more individual victories over the past weekend at the Wintergreen Resort in Nellysford, Virginia. Kenneth Stanford placed first both days of the competition in the men's snowboard slalom and Nicole Yoos led the Bobcats with two victories in the women's snowboard slalom.

Stanford claimed the top podium spot for the second consecutive week as the Charlotte, North Carolina native crossed the finish line in a combined time of 1:00.92 for Lees-McRae on Saturday. Markland followed in second for the Bobcats with a combined time of 1:04.86 on Saturday.

On Sunday, the Lees-McRae men's snowboarding team took the first three spots on the podium and four of the five top placements. Stanford registered his second win on the weekend and Markland placed second for the second day in a row. Aiden Garner followed his fellow Bobcats in third and Luke Elting rounded out Lees-McRae in fifth place.

Yoos registered a first-place finish in the women's snowboard slalom for the third consecutive week as she narrowly beat App State's Macy Hamilton on Saturday with a time of 1:09.51. Lilly Kamp placed fourth after recovering on her second run with a heat-best 34.09 seconds.

Yoos and Kamp continued their dominance on Sunday at Wintergreen with the top two placements on the day. Yoos claimed first with her first run of 29.55 and Kamp followed in second.

The Lees-McRae men's snowboard team has three of four top individuals on the USCSA Southeast Individual Standings with Stanford having a commanding lead through five weeks of the snowboard alpine season. Blake Broussard is third individually and Markland has the fourth-best total. 

On the women's side, the Bobcats are first and second individually with Kamp leading with 550 total points. Yoos is second for Lees-McRae with 437 after three solid weeks of competition.
As a whole, the Lees-McRae men's snowboard team is first in the snowboard alpine discipline and the women are third in the discipline.

Lees-McRae Ski & Snowboard head to the Seven Springs Mountain Resort in Seven Springs, Pennsylvania to compete in the USCSA Mid-Atlantic Regionals starting tomorrow.
