FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The Lees-McRae softball team dropped a pair of games on Saturday afternoon at Emmanuel (Ga.) in Conference Carolinas play.
Grayson Buckner combined for four hits and three RBIs in the doubleheader
GAME #1 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Lees-McRae – 6; Emmanuel – 6
LOCATION: EC Softball Field – Franklin Springs, Georgia
RECORDS: Lees-McRae (19-12/8-3), Emmanuel (20-15/9-4)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Emmanuel plated two runs in the bottom of the first after a two-run home run by Alyssa Adams. Buckner answered in the second with a solo home run, but the Lions collected two more runs in the bottom of the second to lead 4-1.
- Buckner recorded her second home run of the contest in the fourth with a two-run shot that also scored Julie Gast. The Lions pushed their lead to 7-3 with two runs in the fifth.
- Gast led off the sixth with a lead-off home run and Hannah Foster followed three batters later with a two-run home run blast to cut the deficit to one run. Emmanuel added one insurance in the bottom of the frame and held off the Bobcats' rally for the 8-6 victory.
- Powell took the loss for Lees-McRae in the circle after allowing four runs (four earned) on four hits and two walks.
FOR THE LIONS
- Maddie Edwards earned the complete-game victory for Emmanuel after striking out six Bobcats on her 14th win of the season.
- Adams had a game-high five RBIs on four hits for Emmanuel and Abigail Curry registered three hits in the game.
GAME #2 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Lees-McRae – 3; Emmanuel – 11 F/5
LOCATION: EC Softball Field – Franklin Springs, Georgia
RECORDS: Lees-McRae (19-13/8-4), Emmanuel (21-15/10-4)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Emmanuel put up a combined nine runs in the fourth and fifth innings for the 11-3 victory in five innings to complete the sweep over Lees-McRae.
- Lauren Ritchie produced two RBIs on a fourth inning double and Avery Walston had the other RBI for the Bobcats in the nightcap.
- Jada Wilson went 3.1 innings pitched while allowing seven runs (seven earned) on eight hits and two walks.
FOR THE LIONS
- Lexi Jordan and Isabel Harrison led the Lions in the victory with three RBIs apiece and Ellee Varner collected two hits in the afternoon.

Lees-McRae faces UVA Wise for a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, April 5 in Wise, Virginia. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
