BRISTOL, TENN. –
Taylor Barrineau, Adrienne Cooper, and Jordan Vaughn all tallied goals for Lees-McRae women's soccer, but the Bobcats dropped a tough 6-3 match at King in their annual "Battle for the Blue Ridge Cup" matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Bobcats got out to a quick start with Barrineau finding the back of the net in the fifth minute of action off a pass from Haley Lowman.
- King knotted at one goal in the 10th minute and then registered four more goals in the half to lead 5-1.
- In the second half, the Tornado added to their advantage with a marker Taylor Stubbs in the 56th minute. Vaughn cut the deficit back to four goals in the 66th minute and Cooper earned her first goal of her Bobcat career in the 67th minute.
FOR THE TORNADO:
- The six goals by King ,in today's contest, are the most in a "Battle for the Blue Ridge Cup" match against Lees-McRae women's soccer since the Tornado took a 7-1 decision in 2015.
- Stubbs recorded four goals and one assist to pace King in the afternoon and Ella Froehlich scored two goals in the win.
- Kristal Garcia made eight stops in goal for the Tornado in 90 minutes of play.
NOTEWORTHY:
- King evened the overall point total in the "Battle for the Blue Ridge Cup" after Lees-McRae women's volleyball earned the first point for the Bobcats last week.
UP NEXT:
Lees-McRae hosts Young Harris on Saturday, Sept. 30 as part of Homecoming and Senior Day festivities. The kickoff from Tate Field is slated for a 3 p.m. start.
