Men's and Women's Swimming Conclude Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships

KINGSPORT, TENN. – Lees-McRae men's and women's swimming wrapped up their 2024 Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships on Saturday with seven top-five finishes and two school records.

WOMEN'S NOTABLES:
  • Guillermina Rentsch began Saturday with a second-place finish in the 200 Yard Backstroke in a time of 2:06.03. Kandace Kennedy placed 11th in the event.
  • Tate Abbott placed fifth in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 53.09 and Riley Gleason collected 13th after touching the wall in 54.87.
  • Taylor Simmons concluded her individual championships in sixth place in the 1,650 Yard Free after completing the event in 18:22.81.
  • Abbott, Riley Gleason, Rentsch, and Simmons ended Saturday with a sixth-place finish in the 400 Yard Free Relay with a time of 3:41.25.
  • As a team, Lees-McRae finished in seventh place with 244.5 points. UNC Pembroke took the championship with 776 total points over the four-day meet.

MEN'S NOTABLES:
  • Chase Davis collected another school record with the 200 Yard Backstroke in a time of 1:50.87 and third in the event. Stephen Bandy took seventh in the event for the Bobcats.
  • Thomas Ware produced a new school record in the 1,650 Free with a time of 16:19.67 and collected third in the event. Rien Freeman completed the event in a time of 26:15.40.
  • Nathan Higdon earned second in the 200 Yard Breaststroke after finishing in a time of 2:04.67 and Josh Wall took fourth in the 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:53.74.
  • Caleb Eidson, Davis, Wall, and Ware turned in a fifth-place performance in the 400 Yard Free Relay after touching the wall at 3:10.01.
  • Lees-McRae collected third place overall with 471 total points. Emmanuel earned the top spot with 839 points.

Lees-McRae concluded its 2023-24 season today at the Conference Carolinas Swimming Championships.
