HICKORY, N.C. – Lees-McRae men's and women's track & field opened their outdoor season on Saturday afternoon at LR Bears Open in Hickory.
Andrew Belcher and
Campbell Dille set new school records for the Bobcats and Lees-McRae had 19 top-ten finishes on the day.
THE BASICS

MEN'S NOTABLES:
- Belcher recorded the new program record in the Discus Throw with a mark of 41.08 meters and placed ninth in the event. Joshua Ehresman followed with a throw of 38.21 meters in 13th place.
- Max Geckler notched a victory in the 5,000 Meters with a time of 15:41.62 and Brennen Pierce placed second for the Bobcats in a time of 15:55.48.
- JD Green captured second in the High Jump with a height of 1.98 meters. Lodrick Scott tied for 11th with a clearance of 1.78m. Scott took fifth in the Triple Jump with a jump of 13.07 meters.
- Christian Bargaineer placed fifth in the 100 Meters with a time of 10.75.
- Rien Freeman collected a sixth-place finish in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase to start the day with a time of 10:24.45. Ashton Kirkpatrick followed in ninth with a time of 11:38.82.
- Pierce tallied a fifth-place finish in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:07.94.
- Ehresman took eighth in the Men's Shot Put with a throw of 13.36 meters and Michael Keen collected a mark of 12.57 meters in the event.
WOMEN'S NOTABLES:
- Dille broke the school record in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:03.29 and Deanna Betzer crossed the line in a time of 5:03.54. Dille rounded out her day in the 5,000 Meters with a time of 18:54.65 and collected fourth place.
- Betzer took fifth in the 5,000m with a time of 18:56.29 and Maddie Quinn crossed the line in a time of 19:24.00. Kaylee Kraver recorded a time of 21:25.55 in the race.
- Lora Dillon continued her momentum from the indoor season with a jump of 5.62 meters in the Long Jump and placed fourth. Dillon also placed third in the Triple Jump with a mark of 11.85 meters on Saturday.
- Landri Martinka registered 10th place in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:01.26.
- Devon Davis took ninth in the Discus Throw with a throw of 31.35 meters.
- Maren Hester placed 10th in the High Jump with a clearance of 1.41 meters.
