Men's and Women's Track & Field Break Two School Records at VMI Winter Relays

LEXINGTON, Va. – Lees-McRae men's and women's track & field teams returned to action over the past two days at the VMI Winter Relays in Lexington, Virginia. The Bobcats broke two school records in the Women's Indoor Pentathlon and the Men's Distance Medley Relay.

MEET: VMI Winter Relays
LOCATION: Corps Physical Training Facility – Lexington, Virginia

MEN'S NOTABLES:
  • Josh Gillis, Rien Freeman, Brennen Pierce, and Lodrick Scott set a new school record in the Distance Medley Relay with a time of 10:21.71 on Friday night and placed first overall.
  • JD Green earned the top spot in the Men's High Jump with a mark of 1.88 meters.
  • Tayo Bankole took second in the Triple Jump with a jump of 13.62 meters and Lodrick Scott followed in third with a jump of 13.61m.
  • Gillis continued his strong weekend with second place in the Men's 800 Meter and turned in a time of 1:55.15.
  • Pierce placed sixth in the Mile with a time of 4:29.34 and Freeman followed in seventh with a time of 4:30.75.
  • Isaac Reyna took fifth in the 3,000 Meters with a time of 8:53.18 and Max Geckler followed in sixth with a time of 8:53.52. Freeman placed 10th with a time of 9:18.15.
  • Reyna placed sixth in the 5,000M with a time of 15:46.20. Geckler took seventh with a time of 15:51.01 and Josh Brett rounded out the top ten in 10th with a time of 16:27.93.
 WOMEN'S NOTABLES:
  • Keagan Osika scored a school record 2,704 total points in the Women's Pentathlon on Friday and placed third overall in the event. Osika clocked a time of 26.26 in the 200 Meters and took 10th individually.
  • Lora Dillon earned first in the Triple Jump with a mark of 11.62 meters.
  • Megan Knapp stopped the clock at 5:23.56 in the Mile and placed ninth. Campbell Dille took 14th with a time of 5:30.88. Knapp collected fifth place in the 3,000 Meters with a time of 10:56.24 and Dille followed in sixth at 10:58.05.
  • Dille, Knapp, Landri Martinka, and Rebecca Kleiber set a time of 13:16.51 in the Distance Medley Relay and placed third overall

Lees-McRae men's and women's track & field teams head to Winston-Salem, North Carolina for the 8th annual Camel City Invitational at the JDL Fast Track.
