BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae Ski & Snowboard team continued their 2025 season at Beech Mountain on January 25 and 26.
Avery Wortendyke finished in 24th and 28th place in Alpine Ski Giant Slalom and Slalom, respectively.
The men's alpine ski team was led by Hunter Post who finished in third in Giant Slalom and second in Slalom.
The women's snowboard team missed out on first place in the Giant Slalom by .05 seconds. The Bobcats still had the lowest place points with Nicole Yoos, Abigail Byrd, and Lilly Kamp finishing in second, fourth, and sixth place. This allowed them to hold onto first place position in the Southeast conference.
The men continued their dominant ways occupying eight of the top 11 places in the Giant Slalom race. Luke Koch led the Bobcats and the men went 1-2-3-4-5. Kenneth Stanford, Luke Elting, Aiden Garner, and Spencer Gibson followed Koch in those respective places.
At the Beech Mountain competition, the freestyle events kicked off where the women's snowboard team placed second in the rail jam and slopestyle. The men's side won both events with Stanford claiming the top spot both days.
The Lees-McRae Ski & Snowboard team head to Bryce, Virginia this weekend for the Bryce/Liberty Snowflex competition.
