YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – Leah Barringer and Nadiya Hairston recorded double-digit points, but Lees-McRae women's basketball fell to No. 8 King, 57-49, in the first round of the 2025 Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Tournament.

RECORDS: No. 8 King (13-15/10-10), No. 11 Lees-McRae (7-18/5-15)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- King built an 18-7 lead in the first quarter and led 23-12 at the end of the first quarter. Lees-McRae had 11 turnovers in the first 10 minutes of play.
- Emily Barr collected a layup with 4:40 remaining in the second quarter and the Bobcats cut the deficit to 10 points. Leah Barringer connected on a layup with 2:10 left in the first half as King led 32-20.
- Lees-McRae cut the lead to two points after a 6-0 scoring run, but King quickly used a 5-0 scoring run for a 44-37 lead. The Tornado had the 48-43 advantage heading into the final quarter.
- The Tornado used a low-scoring quarter to earn the 57-49 win over Lees-McRae. King advances to the second round and faces Young Harris tomorrow evening at 5 p.m.
- Barringer had 15 points off the bench for the Bobcats and Hairston followed with 14 points.
- King converted 20 points off 27 Bobcat turnovers and held Lees-McRae to 30.4% from the field.
