FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – McKenzie Presson sent a three-run home run in the seventh inning as Lees-McRae softball tallied a 8-7 win in the second game over Emmanuel.
GAME #1 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Emmanuel – 14, Lees-McRae – 9
LOCATION: Emmanuel Softball Field – Franklin Springs, Georgia
RECORDS: Emmanuel (14-18/9-6)), Lees-McRae (6-27/0-11)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Emmanuel took a 3-0 lead in the first inning with three runs in the bottom of the first frame.
- Avery Walston singled home Rylee Konowalchuk in the top of the second and Destiny Brown collected a two RBI single to tie the score at three runs. Abby Hatley singled home Walston on an RBI single and Allie Johnston made the score 5-3 off a sacrifice fly in the second inning.
- Lees-McRae tacked two more runs in the third and fifth innings for the 9-3 lead.
- Emmanuel rallied with 11 runs in the fifth and sixth innings for the 14-9 win in Franklin Springs.
- Walston tallied three hits and three RBIs for the Bobcats. Morgan Crowe had three hits and two RBIs. Brown collected one hit and two RBIs. Konowalchuk followed with three hits and Taylor Beurrier registered two hits in the first game of the day.
GAME #2 BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Lees-McRae – 8; Emmanuel – 7
LOCATION: Emmanuel Softball Field – Franklin Springs, Georgia
RECORDS: Lees-McRae (7-27/1-11), Emmanuel (14-19/9-7)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Bobcats bounced back in the second for the 8-7 comeback victory and first Conference Carolinas win of the season.
- Johnston recorded a sacrifice fly in the third inning to knot at 2-2. Johnston followed in the fourth with a two-RBI double to make the score 5-3 in favor of Lees-McRae.
- Presson sent a three-run home run in the top of the seventh to give Lees-McRae the one-run lead at 8-7. Jaden Clark shut the door on the Lions bats in the bottom of the seventh and earned her second win of the season in the circle.
- Five Bobcats had two hits apiece. Johnston and Presson led Lees-McRae at the plate with three RBIs each.
