Bobcats in ninth after first round of Conference Carolinas Championship

VASS, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae College men's golf team carded a first round score of 323 to enter Monday's second round of the Conference Carolinas Championship at the Woodlake Resort's Maples Course.

Queens University of Charlotte leads the pack with a first round total of 297, holding a four-shot margin over second-place Barton College (301). Coker College is third with a first round of 307, while Pfeiffer University and Belmont Abbey College are tied for fourth with identical days of 309. Limestone College is sixth with a one-day total of 313, followed by Mount Olive College (318), St. Andrews Presbyterian College (318), Lees-McRae (323), and Erskine College (345).

Thomas Buchanan (Bakersville, N.C.) is tied for 18th with a first round of 78 to pace the Bobcats, while Michael Corboy (Langley, British Columbia, Canada) is tied for 23rd after carding a 79. Wrenn Johnson (Boone, N.C.) and James Madison (Newland, N.C.) are tied for 38th with rounds of 83, while Chase Watson (Newland, N.C.) carded an 86 to round out the scorers for the Bobcats.

David Bainbridge of Queens and Diego Polo of Coker share the individual lead with identical one-under-par rounds of 71. Ryan Sevigny of Queens and Daniel Castleberry of Barton are two shots back in a tie for third.

Lees-McRae returns to the links on Monday in the second round of the Conference Carolinas Championship.
