carded a second round 73 to lead the Lees-McRae College men's golf
team into Tuesday's final day of the Conference Carolinas
Championship, keeping the Bobcats within striking distance of the
top five in ninth place.
Queens University of Charlotte maintained its four-shot lead
over Barton College, as each team posted a second-day score of 301
to head into Tuesday's final round with totals of 598 and 602,
respectively. Belmont Abbey College carded the low score of the day
with a combined total of 299, entering the final round in a tie for
third with Coker College at 608.
Pfeiffer University is fifth (309+300=609), followed by
Limestone College (313+304=617), St. Andrews Presbyterian
(318+301=619), Mount Olive College (318+303=621), Lees-McRae
(323+304=627), and Erskine College (345+312=657).
C.J. Berg of Queens carded a two-under-par round of 70 to take
over the top spot on the individual leader board with a two-day
total of 145, one stroke clear of teammate Ryan Sevigny (73+73=146)
and Coker's Diego Polo (71+75=146). Belmont Abbey's Adam Hedges
(77+70=147) is fourth, while Barton's Daniel Claytor is fifth
(76+72=148).
Thomas Buchanan (Bakersville, N.C.) is tied for 15th with a
two-day total of 78+75=153, while Madison carded the low round of
the day for the Bobcats to enter Tuesday's final round tied for
23rd with a two-day total of 156. Michael Corboy (Langley, British
Columbia, Canada) is tied for 30th after carding his second
straight round of 79, while Chase Watson (Newland, N.C.) posted a
77 on Monday to vault into 41st with a two-day total of 163. Wrenn
Johnson (Boone, N.C.) is tied for 48th with a two-day total of
83+87=170.
Lees-McRae returns to the links on Tuesday in the final round of
the Conference Carolinas Championship at the Woodlake Resort's
Maples Course.
