BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College Athletics Department held the fifth annual CATSPY Awards show on Tuesday, May 11 with a virtual edition on social media, celebrating the outstanding team and individual accomplishments of the 2020-21 season. In addition to six major awards given out, each team nominated an individual who is a leader on and off the field of play and embodies the Lees-McRae spirit.
A CATSPY is defined as:
- "A Lees-McRae College student-athlete who possesses the dedicated commitment to their sport and team, who adds value daily in and out of the classroom, possesses great academic success, and is viewed as a leader amongst their peers. This student-athlete embodies the Lees-McRae spirit and is the true definition of a CATSPY…"
Prior to announcing all of the individual CATSPY winners, Lees-McRae College honored the 24 student-athletes who were inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma Academic Society. Here is a list of who was inducted:

Major CATSPY Award Winners:
- Iron Bobcat – Presented to the male and female student-athletes who is consistent in their training whether it is attendance or bringing a consistent positive attitude.
- Athletic Training Comeback Athlete – Presented to the male and female student-athletes who has suffered a significant injury and has put in all the hard work and dedication needed to return to the field of play.
- Fred I. Dickerson Award – Presented to the male and female student-athletes in the senior class who possess the highest academic standing.
- Team CATSPY for Academics – Presented to the male and female programs with the highest overall grade-point-average.
- Winners: Men's Swimming, Women's Tennis
