John Boisette named Associate Head Track & Field Coach

BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae College Head Track & Field Coach Ley Fletcher announced the hiring of John Boisette as the Associate Head Track & Field Coach on Tuesday afternoon. Boisette comes to the mountains after serving as the Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach at Utica College in New York for the past two years.

"Coach Boisette will bring his vast knowledge of track & field from Utica College to Lees-McRae College," said Fletcher. "His ability to coach multiple events and his passion to teach young student-athletes is off the charts. Coach Boisette's youth and energy, I believe, can bring our young talented teams to the next level. I look forward to working with Coach Boisette in the next chapter of Lees-McRae Track & Field."

During his time at Utica College, Boisette assisted in coaching five All-Americans, 20 national qualifying student-athletes and helped lead his teams to USTFCCCA Academic honors. His main responsibilities included developing and implementing programs for sprints, jumps, hurdles, multi and cross country, planning and organizing individual and team practices, maintaining team discipline, counseling team members, as well as coordinating budgets and team travel. He also served as an adviser for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and developed and implemented the overall recruiting program.

"I am excited to join the Lees-McRae athletic family and look forward to growing alongside Coach Fletcher," said Boisette. "With an already dedicated group of talented individuals, I believe the Lees-McRae Track & Field program already has the key components to maintaining a winning culture. I look forward to working with each student-athlete and bringing in a hard-work-never-quit mentality."

Prior to his experience in New York, Boisette served as the Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach at Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts. His main roles were specializing in sprints, jumps, hurdles, and cross country, leading the strength and conditioning programs, coordinating budgets, team travel, and fundraising efforts.

While serving on the Regis College coaching staff, Boisette earned his Master's Degree in Health Administration, in addition to also serving as a Research Assistant at the Micheli Sports Injury Prevention Center.
